Most people see Beechwood through the work happening on site.

The arborists. The vehicles. The chippers. The machinery.

But behind every team that leaves the yard is a much wider operation keeping everything moving.

From the first enquiry through to completing the work and raising the invoice, different parts of the business have to work together every day.

When a Beechwood team arrives on site, you see the people, vehicles and equipment.

What you don’t see is everything that got them there.

The survey. The planning. The training. The compliance. The engineering. The systems. And the investment behind it all.

That’s what professional delivery really looks like.

No job has to be a major project

Yes, we have the people, equipment and experience to deliver large-scale arboricultural and landscaping projects.

But our teams are also out every week helping homeowners and businesses with the smaller jobs that still need doing properly – stump and root removal, individual tree pruning or removal, hedge and shrub clearance, vegetation clearance, planting and preparation works ahead of fencing, building or landscaping.

From Stump to Sculpture.

Sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest difference.

Our teams carry out thousands of tree works every year, and most jobs are relatively straightforward – arrive on site, complete the works safely and professionally, clear up and move on to the next one.

But every now and again, a job turns into something a little different.

Recently, Beechwood carried out tree removal works at Monument Way in Cornwall on behalf of The Guinness Partnership.

Does your organisation need a Tree Policy?

If you own or manage land with trees on it, one question is often overlooked:

What is your actual policy for managing those trees?

Many organisations have their trees inspected. Some have work carried out when a problem is reported. Others deal with trees reactively when branches fail, complaints arrive or a storm causes damage.

But who is responsible for the trees? How often should they be inspected?

A Practical Approach to Managing Tree Risk

When it comes to managing trees, one of the most difficult questions for a tree owner is:

“Is this tree actually a risk – and what should I do about it?”

It is easy to look at an old, damaged or declining tree and assume that something needs to be done immediately.

But good tree management isn't simply about removing every potential hazard.

It's about understanding the actual level of risk, the people or property that could be affected, and making a proportionate decision.

That's where QTRA – Quantified Tree Risk Assessment – can help.

It’s a question we get asked regularly:

“I need a tree survey – which one do I actually need?”

Tree surveys aren't all the same, and commissioning the wrong type can mean paying for information that doesn't actually meet what you need it for.

Two of the most common are a tree condition survey and a BS5837 survey.

Understanding Your Responsibilities as a Tree Owner

Trees are a huge asset to schools, businesses and public spaces. They provide shade, character, wildlife habitat and environmental benefits.

But owning or managing land with trees also brings responsibilities.

For schools in particular, trees are often located alongside playgrounds, footpaths, car parks, sports pitches and entrances – areas where pupils, staff, parents and visitors may be present every day.

Beechwood Trees and Landscapes has been awarded an additional contract with Citizen, extending our work with the housing provider into Birmingham.

Beechwood already provides tree services for Citizen in Coventry, carrying out a programme of works following tree inspections by Citizen's surveyors. The new contract will see Beechwood taking on the Birmingham work as well, delivering the same range of specialist arboricultural services across the area.

The transformation of Elizabeth Park in Leamington Spa is continuing, with Beechwood Trees and Landscapes supporting McVeigh Construction, the Principal Contractor, as a specialist landscaping subcontractor on the scheme.

If you have noticed cracks appearing in your walls or floors, one of the first questions you might ask is: could a nearby tree be causing subsidence?

It is a common concern for homeowners, particularly when large trees are growing close to buildings.

If you’ve noticed grass turning brown across your local area this summer, you might be wondering whether it has died or why it isn’t being cut as regularly.

The good news is that brown grass doesn’t necessarily mean dead grass.

Following prolonged periods of hot and dry weather, established grass can naturally enter a state called dormancy. This is one of the ways grass protects itself when there isn’t enough water available to keep growi

On 1 September 2026, Beechwood Trees and Landscapes reaches 28 years in business.

Twenty-eight years is a significant milestone for any business. For Beechwood, it represents almost three decades of changing markets, new challenges, growing capabilities and, perhaps most importantly, people who have developed alongside the business.

Things I’ve Learned in 28 Years of Building Beechwood

On 1 September 2026, Beechwood turns 28.

When I started the business in 1998, I certainly didn’t have a 28-year plan.

Like most businesses, it has been built through a mixture of opportunity, mistakes, good decisions, bad decisions, great people, difficult periods and a lot of learning along the way.

Looking back, these are probably the 28 lessons that stand out most.
