Employee Development.

Tree surgery and vegetation management can be a high risk industry, due to its nature comes with many hazards that need to be controlled.

These can include:

  • Work at Height

  • Machinery Operations

  • Vehicle Movements

Employee training and development is one of the ways we can ensure our staff are safe and competent in the tasks they are expected to undertake.

All staff follow their own continual professional development plan which designed and agreed during annual appraisals and this training programme typically includes training and assessment for the NPTC Certificates of Competence, CSCS, CPCS as well as more academic courses

Training and assessment is recorded on a competence matrix so that we can take an overview of the spread of skills throughout the workforce. This enables us to plan the team deployed onto a contract, manage ongoing career development and quickly make an assessment of capability when tendering for a contract.

Our operators receive appropriate training from a competent external or internal instructor/ mentor in line with the relevant guidance using the appropriate NPTC schedule to direct learning towards future assessment.

They subsequently attend an independent assessment at a local assessment centre. Upon successful outcome the ‘Licence to Practice’ or ‘Certificate of Competence’ is copied and placed in the individual’s personnel file.

Chainsaw Operations

One of our trainees receiving instruction on chainsaw use recently.

Josh Jones undertook unit NPTC 201/202 (CS30) Chainsaw Maintenance and Crosscutting Course.

Following training, he was then assessed by an independently appointed NPTC Assessor and received an NPTC Certificate of Competence & NPTC Skills Card.

The confidence that our teams have the qualifications and skills to complete the job in hand, safely and effectively gives our clients complete peace of mind when instructing us on a contract.
