Growing the Urban Forest.
Tree Planting and Aftercare in Full Swing
Over the winter months, our dedicated landscaping teams at Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd have been hard at work planting a wide variety of trees across Coventry as part of several local initiatives.
It’s all part of our shared mission with Coventry City Council to increase tree coverage, improve biodiversity, and support healthier, greener public spaces for generations to come.

Planting the Future
This year’s programme included the planting of trees under multiple funding streams and community-focused initiatives, including:
🌳 Urban Forestry planting across streets, open spaces, parks, cemeteries, and other internal council sites
🌳 Local Authority Tree Funded Grant projects
🌳 The national Trees for Streets programme
🌳 The Council’s Trees for Cities fund
🌳 Memorial trees in parks and public spaces through the Parks Department
Each tree planted plays a vital role in enhancing the city’s urban forest, bringing benefits like improved air quality, urban cooling, stormwater management, and community wellbeing.
A Growing Commitment: Watering and Aftercare
Planting is just the beginning. Ensuring the long-term health of these trees requires a robust aftercare plan, and that’s exactly what we’ve prepared.
Starting Monday, 28th April 2025, and running through to Friday, 29th August 2025, our teams will be:
💧 Watering 1,969 newly planted trees, each receiving 40 litres of water per week over an 18-week programme
To protect and support these young trees, we’ve also implemented a number of innovative care measures:
Protective cages installed to deter vandalism and accidental damage
Watering bags supplied by Tudor Environmental, which make hydration easy, efficient, and eco-friendly
Why Watering Bags?
These high-performance bags are designed to:
✅ Install in minutes – zipped around the tree base for quick setup
✅ Hold 40 litres of water with a controlled, slow release over 5–6 hours
✅ Prevent transplant and drought shock
✅ Achieve 100% absorption with no run-off
✅ Support nutrient or additive delivery
✅ Be reused year after year
We’re proud to be bringing sustainable, efficient aftercare practices into our operations, helping these trees thrive long after planting.
“Tree planting is more than putting them in the ground, it’s about creating a long-term legacy.
We’re proud to be part of a city-wide effort that values not only the benefits that trees do for us today, but what they’ll mean for Coventry’s future.”
— Simon Rotheram, Managing Director, Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd
