International Women’s Day

As part of our drive to improve conditions and representation for women in Arboriculture, we were keen to mark this day by recognising the amazing women in our business and industry.

Arboriculture is very much a male-dominated industry, but we are proud of the women working within Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd.

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the impressive progress women at all levels of the career ladder have made over the past decades.

Here are some comments from the women here at Beechwood:

“I have worked in many male dominated industries with a few challenges thrown in. Having the drive, passion and belief in myself has made me the person I am today.

Team Beechwood actively promotes equality, diversion and inclusion, encouraging women to join the Arboricultural Industry.  A company who values and acknowledges you and your work regardless of role/gender is one that I am proud to be a part of.”

“When I started at Beechwood it was my first experience of working in a male dominated industry. I would love more women to be involved on the operational side of the business here and we do all that we can to support that.

What I have learnt about Team Beechwood is that we are all working towards the same goal irrespective of our role or gender.  We want to get the job done in the best possible way we can – whether that’s felling a large tree, clearing a site for development, managing contracts or planning work programmes. Most importantly, everyone takes their turn to make the tea!”

“Working in this industry can come with it’s challenges like any job. However, we are encouraged at Beechwood to hold your own in the workplace and show that as much as the role we do is not as physically demanding, it’s still as challenging.

I have every faith that the women do just as an important role within the industry as men. I’ve watched my confidence grow when dealing with clients and my male colleagues and remind myself daily that I work hard and deserve to be treated the same as everyone else.”
