Moving for our Mental Health

At Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd, we believe in more than just trimming trees and tending to landscapes.

We understand the importance of nurturing the well-being of our team members, clients, and community.

As Mental Health Awareness Week approaches, taking place from Monday 13 – Sunday 19 May 2024.

The theme, as set by the Mental Health Foundation, is “Movement: moving for our mental health.” This year, we want you to move your way by finding something that moves your body and mind.

The Importance of Movement

Engaging in physical activity not only benefits our physical health but also has significant positive impacts on our mental well-being.

Studies consistently show that exercise can effectively reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, serving as a powerful tool for maintaining mental health.

Moreover, regular physical activity plays a crucial role in preventing various physical illnesses.

Alarmingly, individuals with mental health conditions often face a significantly shortened lifespan, with a 20-year gap compared to the general population, largely due to avoidable physical ailments.

Conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, bowel cancer, and breast cancer are more prevalent in this group.

Research indicates that 56% of individuals attribute regular exercise to stress relief and burnout prevention, it's evident that prioritising movement is essential for both physical and mental well-being.

We're proud to highlight our ongoing commitment to mental health support, not just during this designated week, but as an integral part of our company culture year-round.

Why Mental Health Matters

Mental health is a vital aspect of overall well-being, yet it's often overlooked or stigmatised.

The statistics speak volumes: millions of people worldwide grapple with mental health challenges, from stress and anxiety to depression and beyond.

Recognising the impact mental health has on individuals and society as a whole, we've made it our mission to prioritise mental wellness in everything we do.

Our Approach to Mental Health Support

At Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd, we prioritise mental health awareness and support through a variety of initiatives.

Our commitment begins with open communication channels, creating an environment where team members feel comfortable discussing their mental health concerns without fear of judgment.

Additionally, we offer training sessions and educational resources to increase awareness of mental health issues and provide employees with tools to manage stress and maintain work-life balance.

We also organise social events and activities throughout the year, to promote physical and mental well-being among our employees.

What We're Doing for Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

During Mental Health Awareness Week, we're stepping up our efforts to raise awareness and support mental health:

  1. Internal Workshops and Seminars: We'll be hosting workshops and seminars focusing on various aspects of mental health, including stress management, resilience building, and self-care strategies.

  2. Social Media Campaign: We're launching a social media campaign to share resources, tips, and personal stories related to mental health, encouraging open dialogue and destigmatising the topic.

  3. Community Outreach: We're partnering with mental health organisations to raise awareness for mental health initiatives in our community.

  4. Employee Well-Being Check-Ins: Our leadership team will conduct one-on-one check-ins with employees to assess their well-being, offer support, and ensure that they have access to the resources they need.

Join Us in Prioritising Mental Health

As we observe Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, we invite our employees, clients, and community members to join us in prioritising mental health.

Together, we can break down barriers, promote understanding, and create a culture of compassion and support for mental wellness.

At Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd, mental health matters, today and every day.
