Calm after the storms

From the 16th - 21st February Dudley, Eunice & Franklin hit the UK with the storms hitting the country with winds reported in excess of 90mph.

Clearing up after a tree had fallen across the road.

As usual, we were put on standby by our clients and we mobilised our teams on high alert in preparation for the forecast.

The dates of the three storms came in as below:

  • Dudley 16 - 17 February 2022

  • Eunice 18 February 2022

  • Franklin 21 February 2022

We received our first call out on 16/02/2022 and our last call out came in 22/02/2022 (There have been a few stragglers since then!). During this time the number of call outs we attended were: 77, all of which we completed within contract response times.

Locations of call outs

Our teams covered the Midlands with the closest Call out: Coombe Abbey Hotel (1.4 miles) and our Furthest Call outs: Asda Quedgeley, Gloucestershire (80 miles) and Millbrook Street, Hereford (80 miles)

Some of the highlights included:

a farmers flock of sheep being held up on the road in Worcestershire, and a call out to a Ivy Clad BT Pole !!

Farmers sheep waiting for the road to be cleared

We were immensely proud of how everyone here at Beechwood raised to the challenge, the teamwork and camaraderie promoted a ‘can do’ attitude throughout, with some of our operational teams working tirelessly throughout the night clearing trees and keeping highways and footpaths safe.
